Somatic Experiencing® Sessions (Trauma Healing Sessions) … $100/ hour

The term somatic refers to the body. Experience refers to what and how is the body experiencing or what sensations in the body are happening. Trauma happens when the nervous system becomes dysregulated. Anxiety, depression, chronic pain and addiction are all closely linked with traumatic experiences. The stress from traumatic events has also been linked to certain diseases. The healing takes place when we release the stored energy of the traumatic events.

We know that trauma is held within the body, so integrating the body is essential in healing the events that took place. In a Somatic Experiencing® session, we work by talking about the body sensations. We can incorporate healthy touch massage to re-engage the nervous system. By doing these, we reset the nervous system and heal the trauma.

The session is about you and healing. I do this without judgement, criticisms or expectations. During the sessions, you become more aware of your body, or movements. Your life experiences may surface during the session. We don’t have to discuss them if you choose not to. Some sessions will take place sitting in chairs, others may take place on a massage table. On the massage table, you may lie down fully clothed or disrobe to your comfort level. As a professionally trained massage therapist, you will be draped according to professional standards. As an integrated practitioner, I can offer other modalities of healing such as Reiki or shamanic healing. You may also stop any sessions if you choose. You as the client are in charge of your healing path. I am here to help support in any way I can.

The healing journey is a challenging path. “Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.” — Dr. Peter Levine, Waking the Tiger
